JW Anderson was born in Northern Ireland in 1984, beginning his career at the Brown Thomas department store in Dublin. He was later to become Miuccia Prada’s right-hand man. He launched his eponymous brand and debuted his first collection in London in 2010. Through his collections, he offers a modern interpretation of contemporary ready-to-wear, imagining "a common wardrobe, borrowed from a woman by a man and from a man by a woman".  JW Anderson offers silhouettes with androgynous and experimental lines, both elegant and rebellious, drawing inspiration from literature, history or in social movements like punk.
