An essential of Paris Fashion Week, the Balmain show took place in a sumptuous salon at Opéra Garnier
“These are no longer women, but glamazons” : the sublime Natalia Vodianova opened the show in a vinyl leather suit, followed by Natasha Poly in a transparent vinyl coat.
The Balmain Spring-Summer 2018 collection is a true visual patchwork: of colors far from its usual gold; rather, black, white, primary colors, and of course sequins and glitter; and stripes, checks and polka dots; in vinyl, net and plastic; chains, fringes and flounces…
Suits in sequins or black patent leather, ruffled tops mixed with cashmere knits, metallic fishnet, studded leather and lambskin, ultra-short dresses, off-shoulder dresses, long skirts with thigh slits, smart mini skirts, oversized pullovers worn with vinyl thigh boots...the glamazons are disco queens who are also rock and chic. As we expected, a Balmain kind of glamor.
Each Balmain show brings together the most prominent personalities in the world, from Anna Wintour to the most famous models. Karolina Kurkova, Alessandra Ambrosio, Bianca Balti, Maria Borges, Elsa Hosk, Cindy Bruna, Jourdan Dunn all walked the stage at the Opéra Garnier, which Olivier Rousteing was able to use as a venue for this show among others as a thank you for having dressed Paris Opera Ballet this summer.
“Under Olivier's direction, we will make this a leading brand. And we have all the right partners: Beats headphones this summer, and now L'Oreal,” said CEO Massimo Piombini, at the recent launch of the new Balmain lipstick.
