MM6 MAISON MARGIELA - MINIMALISM & ABSTRACTION

@MM6

Structure and abstraction, these are the two watchwords for this Autumn-Winter 2024 collection by MM6 Maison Margiela. Created in 1997, under the symbol of the number 6, the house continues to reinvent itself every season. Under the direction of John Galliano, fashion is felt as a game that one is willing to play every single day.

This new collection is inspired by the work of Martin Margiela when he worked at Hermès from 1997 to 2003. The two entities of the fashion world share a minimalist dimension that is not to be questioned. In addition, while the ‘'MM6’’ logo is often found on pieces from previous collections, it is now rarely present or even non-existent. We are witnessing an evolution towards a new MM6 era. It is therefore a pure and calm side that is reflected in the looks. This unique atmosphere brings a considerable impact on the details of each piece.

Abstraction is at the core of these 47 silhouettes. Originally used in painting, it consists of isolating colors and shapes without having a specific common theme. This is where a certain reflection comes from because a guiding thread clearly emerges from this collection and this show. Another technique often used in the Margiela universe is contrast: contrast with society, colors, materials... This game of opposition comes to strike the spirits and give a fresh dimension to MM6 Maison Margiela.

This Fall-Winter 2024 season is marked by the use of different cuts all along the show.. We alternate between long and short cuts, amplification of the shoulders’s volume, exaggeration of the details, sleeves falling over the fingertips and oversize as we are used to see at MM6. The designs are sculpting the silhouettes. In short, geometry is in the spotlight. We also see a homogeneous mix between the black color and a panomara of green (khaki, pop green...). Shades announcing the autumn and winter season with allure and determination.
