Titled “Lido” after his house on the banks of Venice, the Rick Owens Spring-Summer 2024 collection highlights the return to simplicity. Black has established itself as the flagship color, marking a break from the flashy colors of recent seasons. Despite an almost single-color collection, the American designer has fun with silhouettes: elongating the arms and legs in an extravagant way. This gives an effect of grandeur to the models and this abstract dimension so particular to Rick Owens. The latter also highlights red as a powerful color note and terracotta beige to soften the raw appearance. The artist once again proves his genius by only creating looks that are both strong and monochrome.
Rick Owens or Richard Saturnino Owens is an American designer, born in the 1960s in California. He created his House in 1994 then moved to Paris in 2003. Rick Owens is known for having made the "glunge" style (contraction of glamor and grunge) his trademark and has shaped himself from a rock'n'roll universe in margin of trends. He developed an image of dark, underground, almost hardcore fashion. Even today he perpetuates the minimalist “antifashion” movement. Its volumes are ample but structured. His signature pieces are leather jackets, threadbare jersey t-shirts and harem pants with irregular hems.
